Back when I was a regular worker in a moving company something interesting happened to me. We were moving an elderly couple, whose house was full of antiques, religious artifacts and historically and sentimentally important things.The elderly lady, her name was Rebecca, was extremely concerned about the packing. She was constantly asking us to be extra careful. One of the movers said:
“Lady, we know what we are doing! Please, stay away and do not interfere!” Suddenly, the lady burst into tears and said:“You are being so rude! I do not need your help.”
We did as she requested and left. On our way to the office, I started talking with one of the guys, who happened to be the son of the owner of the moving company. I told him:
“Did you see how important those religious relics were to the old lady? You could have been nicer and done exactly what she asked of you.”
His response was “Do not forget who you are! Do not talk too much! “At that moment I promised myself that I would open my own moving company, where customers will be heard and treated respectfully.
All the way back to the office, I kept thinking about going back and helping Rebecca. I called up all my friends and asked them to help me. We went back to the old couple and helped them with their move. I will never forget when we were done Rebecca came up to me, gave me a hug and said: “I am deeply thankful for your help. I do not have children and grandchildren. My belongings are very important for me. Thank you so much for your understanding and your help”. At this point my desire to open a moving company got stronger and became an integral part of my life. I got credit and started my own business.
